I was browsing through various netbook offers this morning, something affiliates like myself have to do, when the U450 minilaptop caught my eye. A Intel Dual Core netbook? Indeed! On top of the dual core processor there’s 3GB installed RAM and up to 8GB max and a 250GB Hard Drive. There’s also a 1.3mp camera and HD quality sound. It has a special shock protection system, and enhanced features like a light sensor to automatically adjust screen brightness and facial recognition log-on technology. The battery goes up to 6 hours and the netbook is only 1.1 inches thick and weighs under 5 pounds. It comes with Windows 7 and has a card reader and plenty of USB connectors. The Mini 10 and Mini 10v are perfect on-the-go notbooks. They come with 10 inch screens, but weigh only about 2.5 pounds. They come with Windows XP (Ubuntu also available) so you can use the system you’re used to, Intel Atom processors so you can get your tasks done fast, and 92% full size keyboards to keep your wrists and fingers happy.

They come in black, but white, red (helps fight AIDS in Africa), pink (helps Susan G. Komen for the Cure), blue, green, and purple are available. The Mini 10v comes with an Intel Atom N270 (1.6 GHz / 533 Mhz FSB / 512K cache), but you can upgrade to a N280 (1.66 GHz / 667 MHz FSB) for just $25. The standard hard drive is 120 GB, but can upgrade to 160 GB or a 30GB SSD. There’s a 802.11g card standard, but again upgrades are available, including for n. This Dell netbook comes with Windows XP SP3. There’s a 1 year limited warranty with a mail-in service included, but if you want at-home repair it’s only $19 more.

Solid and Stylish
The M2010 has a 10.1″ (1024 x 576) screen, the dimensions are 10.2″ x 7.4″ x 1.3″, and weighs only 2.5lbs.
Even at this light weight though, the netbook has a solid, sturdy build. The AC adapter weighs under a pound, so it’s easy to take along when traveling.

Powerful and Convenient
Besides its built-in webcam, Fujitsu’s M2010 has high quality speakers and amazing video playback–unusual features for most minilaptops. The mini-notebook also has 3 USB ports, separate headphone and microphone jacks, and a 4-in-one card reader, along with your standard VGA and Ethernet connections. In terms of connectivity, it has Bluetooth, 10/100 LAN and 802.11 b/g WLAN.

Standard Hardware, Weak Battery
As far as specs go: it’s powered by an Intel Atom N270, has a 160GB HDD, and a 1GB of RAM (Upgradable to 2GB). These are all standard laptop parts, and the only weak point is their 3-cell battery, which only lasts 2 hours. There is an upgrade available, but it’s a bit pricey for the moment.

Great TouchPad, Keyboard a Mix
The Fujitsu M2010’s touchpad is well-designed and easy to use, but the keyboard is a mix. On one hand the keys are comfortable, but on the other there’s quite a bit of wasted space on the sides. It’d be nice if Fujitsu took advantage of the side space and made their keyboard a bit wider. Also, beware the right shift button: it’s small and misplaced on the right of the up arrow.

This 8.9 inch netbook has 1024 x 600 resolution, 512MB RAM, a 4GB SSD hard drive, and a Linux OS. It runs an Intel Mobile CPU, has 3 USB’s, mic/headphone jack, and a MMC/SD/SDHC memory card reader.

It weighs just under 2.2 lbs and has a footprint of 8.86″ x 6.69″ x .79″/1.33″, has a stylish black (Galaxy) color, and its 4 cell Li-ion battery lasts 2.5 hours.

This mini-laptop is not for development or gaming, but it can definitely handle the browsing, email, and communication that most users are looking for.

There’s a built-in webcam and microphone, a multi-card reader, and standard wifi 802.11 b/g. Bluetooth and 3G connectivity are optional. The hard drive is 160GB, especially impressive given the light weight and claimed battery life (see below). It also comes with a one year warranty.

Now, for some of the really cool features:

- Support for up to 2GB RAM (surprising for a Win XP minilaptop)

- (I repeat) 7.5 hour battery life!

Acer’s gone a really long way with battery life. Their front page has some eight plus hour notebook models. Those notebooks and the new D250 netbooks are really impressive.
